Spike-haired, brass-blonde,
they invade the bluegrass suburbs
where blades form a passive sameness
if tended as intended. They strut
across the green of everyday --
strumpets in tattered leafy skirts,
stiletto roots -- bestowing downy favors
on the summer breeze.
