Most winter mornings
I hear a lone seagull’s cry
off to the east.
Gulls head inland during
rough weather.
From a creosote-encrusted pier on the bay,
they catch food tossed into the air
as it floats suspended in that instant
between rise and fall.
Clear focus
on one thing-
How many
moments like this
do we have?
