Magnifying Mirrors
by
Judi Brown

Next

I am getting too old for this
for peering into a magnifying mirror
whose sole mission
is to bring into sharp focus
each imperfection
as though
with a little care and attention
I can achieve what passes for beauty

as if growing old gracefully
doesn't include age spots
or laugh lines
or proof that I have fully lived

I am starting to think
mirrors are passé.

Judi Brown wrote her first poem in 2008; she says "they have been flowing through me" ever since, and she keeps paper and pen handy so she can capture whatever, whenever it comes. Judi describes her day job  as "immensely rewarding;" she raises funds to support causes that are meaningful to her and which help to repair and improve the world. Judi enjoys walking in the woods and laughing with family and friends.
