Quietly ensconced in warming comfort
sunshine flooding through bright window panes
Champagne bubbles still floating softly
o’er pecan pie memories of gifts that had been
Smiling cat dreams of snow-laden bushes
welcomed refuge for bright crimson wings
Frosted paintings on icy, cold windows
crystal white lawns as distant bells ring
Nature's gift blown to my doorstep
by a silent and generous, crisp, winter wind
Hope and fulfillment perfectly packaged
New Year’s great promise – past sorrows may end

Yes, written while still a resident of suburban Chicago. Thanks for the comments and Happy New Year to all!

Yes, cosy images! I suspect those "snow-laden bushes" are back in Illinois! A wonderful poem to start the new year!
