Carl Sandburg Home - National Historic Site - Located in Flat Rock, in the western part of the state, this 264-acre estate includes the Sandburg home, a Museum Preservation center, several hiking trails, and a pasture that is home to descendants of Lilian Sandburg's goat herd.

Paul Laurence Dunbar House - Located in Dayton, the poet lived here with his mother until his death in 1906.
