I'm Here

"I'm here!"
The voice is nice and clear.
"I'm here! I 'm here!"
There's the anxiety of not being heard.
The throng is so thick,
the noise so loud.
I 'm just a dot.
An ant in the crowd.
I raise my arms
and wave my hands.
No one sees. No one hears.
No one seems to understand
I need to be,
alone and important,
to stand in front and let the many know
that I'm here. I'm here
and my life shines
a light in the world.

Jay Frankston was raised in Paris, France. Narrowly escaping the Holocaust, he came to the U.S. in 1942, became a lawyer, and practiced on his own in New York for nearly twenty years, sculpting and writing at the same time. In 1972, he gave up law and New York and moved himself and his family to Northern California, where he became a teacher and continued to sculpt and write. Jay is the author of several books, including a true tale entitled A Christmas Story, which was condensed in Reader's Digest, translated into 15 languages, and has been called "a Christmas classic” by many reviewers. Jay's latest novel is El Sereno, a short epic set in Spain with authentic historical background. It took ten years and two trips to Madrid to complete.

That's right. We all feel this way a great deal of the time.
