There is so much good in the worst of us,
and so much bad in the best of us,
that it ill behooves any of us
to find fault with the rest of us.

James Truslow Adams (1878 - 1949) was an American author and historian. Born in New York to a wealthy family, he worked as an investment banker for more than a decade, then served in the Military Intelligence Division of the U.S.Army and in the U.S. delegation to the 1918 Paris Peace Conference. James won a Pulitzer Prize for the first volume of his trilogy on the history of New England, and his Epic of America was named one of Life magazine's 100 outstanding bboks of 1924-1944. The term "the American Dream" originated from that book. Another of James' well-known quotes is "There are obviously two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live."
