Every Day Should Have a Poem of Its Own

Every day should have a poem of its own,
For every day its own story of dreams and perceptions.

But there are so many days
And so few true poems.

Poems that should have been written
Are not.

Our days and nights go by
Never to be remembered.

Shalom Seymour Freedman is an acclaimed author, reviewer, and commentator. Born in Troy, New York, he has lived for many years in Jerusalem, Israel. Although his eight published books include only one poetry collection, Mourning for My Father, Shalom says, "Poetry is a central part of my daily life; it provides me with constant inspiration and spiritual strength."
