Winter Time

I remember that winter of sleigh riding.
The blizzard caused Jungle Hill to dead end.
We wanted the snow days to last forever.

Three of us managed to fit on my sled,
two scrunched sitting and one kneeling in back.
I remember that winter of sleigh riding.

We sledded down the hill then traipsed up again
with mittens soaked, our noses running.
We wanted the snow days to last forever.

I always waited too long to go home
and I'd wind up wetting my leggings.
I remember that winter of sleigh riding.

I'd have hot soup and change snowsuits
then drag my sled down the street again.
We wanted the snow days to last forever.

I imagined I was surrounded by igloos
as the banks of snow loomed higher than me.
I remember that winter of sleigh riding.
We wanted the snow days to last forever.

Anastasia:
I grew up in Kansas City, and we had incredible winters! We even were able to ice skate on some of the city fountains and on the pond in Loose Park! It was so cold, but we were having such a good time, we didn't notice!
