Last night in the evening indigo
of summer's sensuous garden, dazed
by cerulean blooms on the lithe stem
of delphinium, drugged by the gossamer scrim
of plumbago's electric blue, intoxicated
by the haze of Russian sage, the maze
of rosemary and thyme
Last night the garden lost all proper decorum
fireflies courted with pulsing heat . . .
the garden sizzled in delight
