The phone rings,
a recorded voice ominously commands,
Call this number
the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you.
My husband hangs up laughing,
but as we speak of the trickery
behind this cruel tape
the phone rings again.
I take it this time:
Congratulations, you've been selected
for a free cruise to the Bahamas.
Hanging up once more
I wonder aloud
if the trip is to be scheduled before
or after the arrival of the IRS.

A sensitive and humorous take on another challenge of our "brave new world." I totally empathize and appreciate the laugh.

We got those same phone calls, but were never arrested and never made it to the Bahamas. Thanks.
