Lights—--
Red, white, and green, shimmering
against the sparkle of new snow,
houses, trees, yards transformed,
offering free light shows for all.
The mailbox--—
a magic box..., overflowing with
messages of love from near and far,
multi-hued cards..., mangers, kids,
snowmen, Santas, bright connections.
Candles—--
flames wafting smells of
vanilla, cinnamon, pine,
those in windows
sending light to strangers.
Pageants—--
children's voices, tiny faces shining,
most of their halos slightly tipped,
each one perfectly proclaiming
the season's message.
Bells—--
Christmas carols everywhere,
sleigh bells, church bells,
Salvation Army bells,
ringing, ...ringing, ...ringing.
Families—--
warm childhood memories, tinsel icicles,
cookies and milk, notes for Santa,
parties with aunts, uncles, cousins,
Grandma's and Grandpa's smiles at kids' joy.
The glow of Christmas
is simply this:
the Love
wrapped around
each gift and visit.
