he runs
red hair in tangles
flying flopping
over blue eyes
squinting without glasses
long legs bare
loving a chill in the air
fifteen and free, not bound
by school and family, pets or chores
this one hour untethered
he runs
with teammates
or alone, no matter
he runs
arms at graceful angles
red hair in tangles
he runs

I saw him running, free, red hair in tangles. I like the way the poet Marsha crafted this poem.

Sharon Waller Knutson:
Vivid description and perfect portrait of this fifteen year old grandson. This poem was masterfully crafted with the repetition of the words "he runs" from the first line to the last. I can see the redheaded boy running even before I saw his photo.
